I have gone through the instructions and its not working and I thinks its because we have no SIP licences on our system, would this be correct? Throughout the office we have Mitel IP phones but the current polycoms we have in our meeting rooms are analogue. Hopefully someone will eb able to help, thanks in advance.

Instead of going directly into the Scheduler form, I would suggest the following:

Maintenance and Diagnostics
Backup/Restore
Backup

Set the location of the backup file. (default is c:\)
Then click "Schedule Backup" and choose your scheduling options.

RE: Voice Mail to Email "from" address

The voicemail itself is more than enough for our needs, the problem is sombody, whether it be Mitel or Mitel's contracted third party, isn't following industry standards when generating emails and has left no way for a user to correct the problem. We were able to overcome the problem by setting up an SMTP server of our own and "forwarding" the emails through it as opposed to simply "relaying" it. This changes the "from" domain to something that can be resolved through DNS. It's not the best solution as it adds another layer of complexity, but it serves its purpose. I'd still like to see a way to properly format the outbound mail directly from the embedded VM.

My understanding is that the embedded voicemail is a third party solution, and not under Mitel's direct control. If a site requires more than just basic voicemail capabilities, the recommendation would be to go with NuPoint.

Office 365 doesn't allow you to manage an allowed relay list of some kind?

absolutely a Mitel issue. user_name@ipaddress, especially a private IP address is improperly formatted. Most email providers will reject any email they cannot do a DNS lookup on, and they will never be able to resolve a private IP address.
RE: Voice Mail to Email "from" address

Good question. I think another way of putting this is that Office 365 is seeing the VM as a "spoofed" message because the domain is the same, but the IP address isn't what the hosting company (Microsoft) is expecting.

I think this happens a bit with outsourced anti-spam and email. In my case, I work with the hosting provider to accept certain IP addresses from ourdomain.com so that they are not rejected as spoofed messages. Kind of a "trust" relationship. The hard part is who do you call at Microsoft to say, "hey, please don't reject our unified messaging voice mails! they're legit!" But maybe there is something on the Office 365 portal where you can add your internal domain IP address as a trusted source.

I just did a quick google on this...not extensive...but can you create some kind of federation between your real domain and the exchange instance at office 365 (if one already doesn't exist?)

Voice Mail to Email "from" address

Our 3300ICP forwards our VM to an email address. This was working great until we switched email providers and VM began to not get delivered. We have narrowed the problem down to how the 3300 formats the email. It sets the "from" address as user_name@IPAddress, and of course we are using a private IP address, and when the recieving host (MS Office 365) gets the mail for delivery it tries to do a revers DNS lookup on the sending domain (IPAddress) and of course fails, and then dumps the email. My question is, is there a way to set the "from" email to be formatted in a more standard way, user_name@ourdomain.com, so that reverse DNS will not fail and the emails can be delivered.

RE: CONSOLE AT 2ND LOCATION

Can you explain how you did this? I have a 2nd console at our DR Site and in order to take calls on it we have to turn off the console at our HQ and the other kicks in. Ideally I would like to allow the DR console to take all calls in a DR situation automatically as we may not be able to get into the HQ building to turn off the 1st console.
